EUA Webinar: "Implementing an Ethos of Research Integrity in Doctoral Education"

EUA-CDE Webinar shares insights on the current situation and notable developments in Europe in implementing an ethos of research integrity in doctoral education.

25 October 2017

  • Implementing an ethos of research integrity has become a crucial challenge for academic leaders and professionals working on doctoral education. Universities are facing uncharted ethical questions stemming from innovative paths for research, while increased social awareness puts a spotlight on the integrity of their staff. Doctoral education is emerging as a powerful tool to meet these challenges.

On 25 October 2017 the EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE) organises a Webinar dedicated to implementing an ethos of research integrity in doctoral education. Three speakers will share their insights, covering the European Commission’s ongoing efforts to build a common European reference framework for ethics and research integrity, key elements for doctoral education in the revised European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity and the findings from a two-day Focus Group discussion between European universities.

The event is open to all EUA members, but limited to 500 participants. Places will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of one participant per institution. Registrations will open on 28 September 2017 and close on 20 October 2017.

The Webinar will be preceded by a Focus Group bringing together doctoral education professionals and ethics and research integrity officers to exchange views on the current situation in Europe and reflect on ways forward.
